What is Thread for nami devices?
Thread is the reliable, secure, and energy efficient technology that nami devices use to communicate to each other. All the devices added to a zone work together using the same Thread network.
Device types on the Thread network
- Plugged-in devices (i.e., Alarm Pods and SensePlugs) extend the network’s reach and thereby strengthen the connection within the Thread network. This allows the network to connect to devices in far corners of the zone.
- Battery-powered devices (i.e., contact sensors and keypads) stay in low-power mode most of the time to save energy and rely on plugged-in devices to stay connected.
Thread Border Routers
At least one Thread Border Router is needed for your Thread network to connect to your Internet and Wi-Fi.
Alarm Pods and SensePlugs can act as Thread Border Routers and are automatically set up as such when needed. It is recommended to install these first before enrolling contact sensors and keypads so that these battery-powered accessories can be added to the preexisting Thread network.
