Why do previous Honeywell Vista panel user codes need to be deleted to integrate with the SEM?

If a local arming/disarming performed by a user code that should be assigned to a user does not show the user's name on the event in the activity history, the codes on the Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista may not be synced properly.

The Honeywell Vista System Enhancement Module (SEM) is designed to work seamlessly with Alarm.com interactive services, including user code management. To enable user code management through the Alarm.com platform using a legacy SEM (SEM 100 and SEM 200), all existing Vista panel user codes must be deleted from the panel and re-entered through Alarm.com.

Important: Manually syncing user codes by deleting previous codes is not required for SEM 210 (and newer) units unless the SEM is connected to an incompatible Uploader/Downloader (UL/DL) compatible panel revision. For more information about troubleshooting the SEM Dual-Path, see SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista Troubleshooting Guide.

If any codes in the panel were added locally, the following behaviors occur on the Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista with a legacy SEM (SEM 100 and SEM 200):

  • User codes are unable to be added or removed remotely using the Alarm.com customer website.
  • An error about user codes already being in the system even if it's not showing on the Alarm.com customer website indicates that the code is likely programmed directly into the panel.

Note: Anytime codes are added to the SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista remotely, verify the panel acknowledges and sounds a confirmation beep to indicate a user code successfully saved to the panel.

Delete individual user code locally at keypad

A panel user code can be deleted directly from the Vista panel keypad.

To delete individual user codes using the keypad:
  1. Enter the master code.
  2. Press [8].
  3. Enter the 2-digit user code slot number (e.g., for slot number 5 press [05]).
Caution: Do not delete the installer code (slot 01) or the master code (slot 02).

  4. Press [#][0] to delete it.
  5. Repeat this process for every user code on the system to delete.

If user codes can still not be added remotely after removing all user codes, the master code may not have been synced. For more information about master code syncing, see Sync the master code on a SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista.
