Inconsistent Sensor Activity Monitoring for motion sensors on a SEM-DSC PowerSeries

If a SEM-DSC PowerSeries is reporting inconsistent Sensor Activity Monitoring (SAM) for motion sensors (e.g., reports excessively, infrequently, or not at all), verify the following.

Note:

Motions are in groups 4, 5, or 6. Generally, this will only impact hardwired sensors.
Motion activity reported does not trigger alarms even if the panel is armed.

How to resolve

Verify the SEM-DSC PowerSeries is upgraded to firmware 2.72+ and 191c+.
- The SEM-DSC PowerSeries must be on 2.51+ to be able to upgrade to 2.72. For more information about upgrading SEM-DSC PowerSeries, see Can a SEM-DSC PowerSeries be upgraded remotely?.
If an upgrade was needed, test the motion sensor again after the SEM is on the updated version.
If an upgrade was not needed, verify the motion sensor is programmed properly and then test the motion sensor again.
