Highest zone on the SEM-DSC PowerSeries keeps deleting from the Equipment list
The DSC PowerSeries PC1616, PC1832, and PC1864 panels, on their own, do not possess the capability to display a Failure to Communicate (FTC) event. However, this changes when an Alarm.com System Enhancement Module (SEM) is in use. In the event of an FTC, the SEM can display a COMMUNICATION FAILURE or Comm Failure message on the keypad, alerting users to an ongoing communication issue.
The SEM achieves this by registering itself as a sensor in either Zone 32 (for PC1616 or PC1832 panels) or Zone 64 (for PC1864 panels). This essentially means that the highest zone number for the SEM-DSC PowerSeries is allocated specifically for FTC incidents.
| Panel version | FTC Zone # |
|---|---|
| PC1616 | Zone 32 |
| PC1832 | Zone 32 |
| PC1864 | Zone 64 |
Note: Sensors cannot be assigned to the highest zone number using SEM-DSC PowerSeries. Despite initial indications that sensor registration might have succeeded, the sensor will be removed when it is tripped or during an equipment scan.
If a sensor is already enrolled in Zone 32 (PC1616 and PC1832 panels) or Zone 64 (PC1864 panels), it must be removed so the SEM can operate correctly. Failure to remove the sensor may result in unwanted and unexpected behavior.
