What are the power requirements for an Interlogix Concord?

Measuring panel voltage is a common troubleshooting step when experiencing odd behavior on a panel. Most often, this step is required when there is a Modem-Panel Comm message, or the panel is not communicating properly with Alarm.com. For more information about measuring the voltage, see  Measure panel and module voltage.

Power requirements

The following table displays where to test voltage and what the recommended voltage is for the Interlogix Concord:

Panel power requirements  16.5 VAC
Where to measure panel voltage Measure the incoming AC voltage at panel terminals 1 and 2.
Alarm.com module power requirements 12 VDC
Where to measure module voltage The 12V and Ground (GND) terminals on the module gateway board.

Note: The Interlogix Concord module is powered by the auxiliary power supply (i.e., battery backup or SuperBus2000 two-amp power supply), which should be around 12V. If the supply is below 11.5V, this could cause a modem-panel communication trouble.

Wire size and maximum length

The following table displays the typical maximum wire length by gauge size that can be used to connect Alarm.com cellular modules to modular panels (i.e., DSC PowerSeries Neo/Pro, Interlogix Concord, NX, System Enhancement Modules, etc.).

Gauge Length
22 gauge 40 feet (12.2 meters)
18 gauge 90 feet (27.4 meters)

Note: Doubling wires and Cat5e cables (and its variants) are not supported. For more information about using Cat5e cables, see Can Cat5e cables be used to connect Alarm.com cellular modules to panels?.

Compatible power supplies

Concord 4 uses a 16.5 VAC power supply. The following are compatible Concord 4 power supplies:

  • Standard Class II 16.5 VAC, 40 VA Power Transformer (600-1023)
  • Standard Class II 16.5 VAC 40 VA Power Transformer (600-1023-CN) (Canada)
  • Power Line Carrier Transformer Class II 16.5 VAC, 40 VA (600-1024) (required for light control)

Note: The Concord 4 panel cannot use the Concord 3 power supply since the Concord 3 uses a 24 VAC power supply.

Frequently asked questions

What can be installed if more power is needed?

A SuperBus 2000 2-Amp Power Supply (600-1019) can be added to supply more power. For support installing the power supply, contact the manufacture, Interlogix (GE).

What type of fuse goes between the battery and the gateway?

A 10 amp, fast blow fuse is installed between the battery and the gateway. The following are typical specs for the required fuse:

  • Cylinder
  • Glass cartridge
  • Time Lag
  • 10A/250VAC
  • 5x20mm
  • DCR 0.004 Ohms
Why should the Concord module be powered directly from the battery?

The Concord module should be powered directly off of the battery instead of being connected to the panel for power. The battery power source is more consistent and doesn't fluctuate as the panel power supply can. Powering the module off of the panel can affect normal usage, Z-Wave device installation, and other usages. The same is true of Interlogix NX modules.

How does the Concord module use battery power during AC Power Failure Events?

Once the AC power is lost, the radio continues to operate off the backup battery until it drops below approximately 10.2 V. Under 10.2 V, the radio goes into Power Save Mode and continues to send critical alarm data to the monitoring station (i.e. outbound communication and alarms). This usually provides 12-24 hours of operation during an AC power outage. Once the AC power is restored, the radio should work without further involvement.
