Manage user codes remotely

User codes can be managed remotely on all Alarm.com-compatible security panels. 

Changing user codes remotely sends a user code notification change to the primary email on the account. For more information about the user code change notification, see User code change notification.

Compatibility

  • Some panels must be disarmed to update user codes. It is recommended to disarm the system before attempting to update a user code remotely. 
    • Panels compatible with scheduled/temporary user codes can update user codes while armed. For information about which panels are compatible with updating user codes when armed, see the compatibility chart in Configure Scheduled and Temporary panel user codes. 

Manage user codes remotely 

User codes can be managed using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website. 
  2. Click Users.
  3. Click to select the user to manage. 
  4. In Access Information:
    • Click Access Code to enter the desired user code or tap Generate Code.
    • Click Access Period to configure when the user will have access.
    • Click Access Type to select which devices or locations the user will have access to. 
  5. Click Save to send changes to the system. Allow a few minutes for the system to update, and then test the new user code.
  1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
  2. Tap Menu.
  3. Tap Users.
  4. Tap to select the user to update.
  5. In Access Information:
    • Tap Access Code to enter the desired user code or tap Generate Code.
    • Tap Access Period to configure when the user will have access.
    • Tap Access Type to select which devices or locations the user will have access to. 
  6. Tap Save to send changes to the system. Allow a few minutes for the system to update, and then test the new user code.
