Bypass a sensor on a DSC PowerSeries Neo

On the DSC PowerSeries Neo, there are multiple options to bypass sensors remotely using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.

How does it work?

When sending a remote arming command, there's the option to:

  • Force Bypass - This option bypasses any sensors that would prevent arming (e.g., open, tamper, low battery, offline, etc.).
  • Bypass Specific Sensors - This option is only available on module firmware version 189a+ and allows the user to select specific sensors to bypass, regardless of the sensor's status.
    • Only the first 32 bypassable sensors appear for this option. Life safety zones do not appear and cannot be selected to be bypassed.

Note: If a non-reporting zone in Group 52 is not bypassed, the system will continue to see open/close status updates, chime, and log activity. If bypassed, the non-reporting zone will not monitor status and will follow normal operation for zones.

Unable to bypass a zone

If a zone is programmed to not allow the system to arm when it is bypassed or if a zone is programmed to not be able to be bypassed, the system will not be able to arm from a remote command. Refer to the zone's programming in the panel if a zone is suspected of being programmed to not allow the system to arm.

For more information on how to bypass a sensor directly from the security panel, see DSC PowerSeries Neo User Guide.

Remotely bypass sensors while arming

Sensors can be bypassed while arming using the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website.

Remotely bypass sensors without arming

On module firmware version 189a+, sensors can be bypassed remotely using the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website separately from arming commands.

Important:

  • The system must be disarmed to configure bypassed sensors.
  • Sensors bypassed remotely outside of arming commands will automatically unbypass the next time the system is disarmed if they are not manually unbypassed first.
