Connect a Climax panel to a Wi-Fi network
Wi-Fi configuration helps keep the panel connected for Dual-Path adoption. It is always good practice to ensure the panel is connected to either Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Requirements
The following panels have Wi-Fi:
- Climax HSGW Gen2 series
- Climax Hybrid series
Important: For Climax Gen1 panels, a Wi-Fi dongle must be plugged into the panel to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
Enable/Disable Wi-Fi
If Ethernet is plugged into the panel upon bootup, Wi-Fi will automatically be disabled during the initialization process. This is to prevent interference from both Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
To enable Wi-Fi:
If Wi-Fi is desired over Ethernet, the Ethernet cord must not be connected to the panel before Wi-Fi is connected.
Note: If Wi-Fi is currently disabled, the customer is unable to enable Wi-Fi using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.
To disable Wi-Fi:
Wi-Fi is automatically disable when the panel is connected to an Ethernet cable upon bootup or whil it is powered on. This is to prevent interference from both Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
Important: Even if there is no internet connection coming through Ethernet, Wi-Fi will still be disabled once it is connected. Verify the Ethernet has an internet source before plugging it into the panel.
Connect the panel to Wi-Fi
Once Wi-Fi is enabled, the panel can be connected to Wi-Fi using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.
Important: If Wi-Fi is disabled, the customer is not able to enable Wi-Fi. The following error message will display when attempted to connect the panel to Wi-Fi using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app: Could not verify that wifi was enabled. Please ensure wifi was enabled at the panel and try again in a few minutes.
