Climax with EN Grade II compliance - Quick reference guide
The Climax HPGW and HSGW panels are certified to EN Grade II Option C using Alarm.com. There are various differences in functionalities available when EN Grade II compliance is enabled for Climax panels.
Requirements to enable EN Grade II compliance
For EN Grade II compliance on a Climax panel, the following settings must be configured.
Adjust panel programming
For EN Grade II compliance, the programming options in the following table must be configured as indicated.
| Programming option | Required configuration for EN Grade II compliance |
|---|---|
| Exit delay | Maximum 45 seconds |
| Entry delay | Maximum 45 seconds |
| Auto phone test | Maximum 6 hours |
| Ethernet bypass | Disabled |
| Supervision timer | 2 hours |
Enable Installer Lockout
When Installer Lockout is enabled, all access to panel programming and account history is removed unless Installer Access is provided by the customer. Once the customer grants Installer Access, system access is available for a 6-hour window or until the customer manually revokes access, whichever comes first. For more information about installer lockout, see Installer Lockout.
EN Grade II compliance features
Installer Lockout
Enabling Installer Lockout prevents all dealer and Alarm.com representatives from accessing the full account without customer authorization. Refer to the Climax panel manual for more information regarding the configuration requirements of each regulation. This certification reference is EN 50131-1 8.3.1. For more information about how Installer Lockout is enabled, see Enable Installer Lockout.
To authorize access after Installer Lockout is enabled:
- Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
Note: Customer authorization can only be given to dealer representatives from the Alarm.com customer website. - Click Settings.
- Click Dealer Settings.
- In Installer Access Settings, click to enable the Installer Access toggle switch. Installer access is available for a 6-hour window or until the customer manually revokes access, whichever comes first
Duplicate message limits
To avoid overrun of the Event Buffer from duplicate messages, only three duplicate events generate for each arm/disarm cycle. For example, a zone only reports three alarms, tamper messages, or low battery events for each arm/disarm cycle. The certification reference is EN 50131-1 8.10.
Fault acknowledgment
Faults (e.g., tamper, low battery, etc.) must be acknowledged by the end-user before the restore message can be generated and sent to the central station. During this time, the system remains in fault with trouble beeps sounding and requires force arming until the fault is acknowledged. Faults can be acknowledged either via an LCD Keypad (KP-35) or the Alarm.com Alarm.com customer website in the Issues section. This certification reference is EN 50131-3 8.5.1.1.
Alarm in memory acknowledgment
Alarms in memory must also be acknowledged by the end-user before the notification can clear. This does not impact the system and can be done by an acknowledgment using an LCD keypad. This certification reference is EN 50131-3 8.5.1.1.
Keypad lockout
Keypads are locked out for 5 minutes following five failed disarm attempts using invalid user codes. This certification reference is EN 50131-3 8.3.2.4.
Device supervision
Devices must check in with the system once every 20 minutes. If a customer attempts to arm the system and a device has not checked in in the past 20 minutes, a fault is generated, and the system must be Force Armed. This certification reference is EN 50131-1 Table 18.
Unknown fob lockout
If there is an unknown keyfob detected by the system, no keyfobs are able to arm/disarm the system. This certification reference is EN 50131.
User codes
To reduce the probability of an intruder guessing a user pin code within an hour to below 1 percent, customers are only allowed six 4-digit access codes.
For 6-digit access codes, customers can create up to 40 codes per partition to comply with EN standards. To enable 6-digit access codes, use the Partner Portal or Partner MobileTech app to adjust the Remote Toolkit's Access Code Digits setting. For more information about how to adjust this setting, see Configure and manage user codes on the Climax panel.
This certification reference is EN 50131.
Alarm.com features not supported
The following Alarm.com features are not supported when using a Climax panel with EN Grade II compliance.
Sensor Activity Monitoring
During disarm, sensor activity is not allowed to show in the event history or event buffer. This certification reference is EN-50131-3 Section 8.10, Table 13; EN 50131-1 8.10, Table 7.
Dealer executed firmware updates
Firmware upgrades can only be performed by an Access Level 4 user, which is typically a manufacturer of the product. Therefore, firmware upgrades must be requested from and performed by an Alarm.com representative. This certification reference is EN 50131-1 8.3.1.
Panel status notifications
EN requires that the current arming state of the system only be indicated in a time-limited fashion. Therefore, all LED indicators for the current system arming state are turned off 60 seconds after the arming state change. Additionally, the Communication Connection LED (LED1) does not flash green to indicate connection with Alarm.com when the system is configured for EN II. EN 50131-1 8.3.7.
