Climax keypad and user code configuration settings

The Climax panel supports 40 user codes per partition, totaling 80 unique user codes. Each code is assigned a specific user and allows for awareness of who has interacted with the system and when.

User Code Access Types

User codes can be set for 3 different access periods:

  • At All times: Can arm and disarm at any time, and an unlimited number of times
  • Restricted Schedule: Can only arm/disarm during specific times throughout the week
  • Temporary Access: Can only arm for a fixed time period

Note: All User Code types contribute to the total amount of active user codes, even user codes with temporary access whose time has expired.

Duress User Codes

Duress ("Panic") codes are used in place of the regular arming or disarming code to send a silent signal to the monitoring station. This signal indicates that the user is being coerced and requires immediate help.

For more information about remotely managing user codes, see Manage user codes remotely.

Enabling and Configuring 6-digit User Codes

The Climax panel can have either 4-digit or 6-digit user access codes. Up to 40 codes can be created per partition to comply with EN standards. This certification reference is EN 50131.

Note: Verify the 6-digit user code ULDL selection is made before adding proximity tags to users as PD 6662 requires the use of prox tags to disarm the system. Users with prox tags associated with them will not see the 6-digit update go through.

Considerations
  • All user codes on a system must be the same length.
    • If a panel is updated from 4-digit to 6-digit user codes in programming, all current user codes add 00 at the end of each code. (e.g., 1234 changes to 123400).
    • If a panel is updated from 6-digit to 4-digit user codes in programming, all current user codes remove the last two digits (e.g., 123456 changes to 1234).
  • Both 4-digit and 6-digit user codes are compatible with being updated using Alarm.com.
    • When 4-digit user codes are used, user codes 0000 and 0001 are not allowed for security reasons
    • When 6-digit user codes are  used, user codes 000000-000099 are not allowed for security reasons
  • Compatibility also depends on which keypad is being used. The following table lists the number of digits supported by keypad model:

    Keypad Number of digits supported
    KP-39B 6
    KP-23B/32 F1 4
    FP-KP 6
    KP-35 6
    KP-32 4

Climax keypad lockouts

Climax keypads will lockout and prevent the user from entering a user code or be reactive to button presses based on the following:

  • The mode the keypad is in
  • The number of incorrect attempts
  • The security regulation that is selected for the panel (EN2, PD6662)

Adhere to the following table for the potential lockout a customer or installer might encounter:
