What is a loop in 2GIG sensor programming?

A loop in 2GIG programming is a setting that sets the open/close or idle/activated behavior of a 2GIG sensor.

Types of loops

The following are the three different types of loops.

Note: Some sensors may have their own loop specifications.

Normally Closed (N/C), Dry, Hardwire Loop (Loop 1)

This loop is meant for both wired and wireless sensors. If the sensor is wired, it communicates its status directly over the wired relays it is connected to. If it is wireless, the sensor communicates its status when the internal power flow in the battery is interrupted via an open/close action.

Note: This is generally recommended for motions, glassbreaks, smokes, recessed door/window contacts, panic pendants, and door/window contacts with wire leads.

Built-In Magnetic Contact Loop (Loop 2)

This loop is meant for wireless sensors. This enables the sensor to communicate it's status using the magnetic contacts between the two sensors. If the contact is breached, it will show an activated/open status.

Note: This is generally recommended for doors/windows using an internal switch and heat sensors.

Additional Input Loop (Loop 3)

This loop is meant for special sensors that can monitor more than one status. For example, if you wanted to use two sensors to go into alarm only if there is flooding and severe cold, this would be the programming option you would choose.

Note: This is generally recommended for flood and freeze sensors.
