What are the firmware requirements to use an LTE module with 2GIG GoControl panels?

The following table lists the required firmware versions for the types of 2GIG GoControl 1 and 2 LTE modules.

Cellular module type Panel firmware version required
2GIG-LTEV-A-GC2

1.19.1+

2GIG-LTEV1-A-GC2

1.19.4+

2GIG-LTEA-A-GC2

1.19.1+

If the panel is unable to communicate or if the Cell Phone Test option does not appear on the panel with an LTE module, verify the panel's firmware version is compatible. For more information about finding the panel firmware version, see Find or request the firmware version of a 2GIG panel

Note: The 2GIG GC2e begins at panel firmware version 1.21 and supports LTE modules. For LTE-Quectel-EC21 modules, the GC2e requires panel firmware version 1.24+.

Upgrade the panel firmware

There are two methods for upgrading the 2GIG GoControl's firmware version:

  • If the panel is communicating with Alarm.com, it is possible to remotely upgrade the panel. For more information about remotely upgrading, see Remotely upgrade panel firmware
  • If the panel is not communicating with Alarm.com yet, the panel must be locally upgraded. For additional informatoin about locally upgrading, see Locally update the firmware on a 2GIG GoControl panel and TS1. Contact 2GIG support for instructions to upgrade the panel locally.

Additional considerations

  • 2GIG modules are sold through 2GIG or 2GIG distribution only. 2GIG modules are not sold through Alarm.com.
  • The LTE CAT 1 modules require less power consumption, so it should allow the module to run off of battery-only for a longer period of time than a non-CAT 1 LTE module. For more information about the GC2 LTE CAT 1 module, refer to 2GIG's GC2 4G LTE CAT1 Cell Radio with Alarm.com
