Unable to perform a Cell Phone Test on a 2GIG GoControl

Try the following troubleshooting steps if the 2GIG GoControl is experiencing one of the following behaviors: 

  • unable to perform a communication test or the Cell Phone Test option does not appear.
  • 0/31 displays as the panel's signal strength. 
  • the serial number appearing in the panel is either missing, all zeroed out, or is 1234567890
  • Customer Service Failure error message appears on the panel.

Verify the panel is compatible with the module

There are panel firmware requirements for the 3G and 4G networks. For more information about the networks, see What are the firmware requirements to use a 3G module with a 2GIG GoControl? or What are the firmware requirements to use an LTE module with 2GIG GoControl?

Power cycle the panel and module 

To power cycle the panel and module: 

  1. Power down the 2GIG GoControl panel. 
  2. Reseat the module. 
  3. Power up the panel. 

Verify Q91 in programming 

In the 2GIG GoControl system programming, verify Q91 is set to 1 for Alarm.com. If needed, this will need to be updated locally at the panel. For more information about navigating through programming, see Configure panel programming on a 2GIG GoControl

This setting determines which Radio Modem Suppliers module will be used with the panel. The default for this is (0) None, but it should automatically change to (1) for Alarm.com radios once they are connected. 

Note: On 2GIG version 1.10, Q91 and Q92 both need to be set to 1 for the panel to communicate with Alarm.com.

Replace equipment

If the Cell Phone Test option does not appear after trying all the preceding steps, replace the cellular module. 

If the behavior continues after replacing the cellular module, contact the panel manufacturer for further troubleshooting.
