What are the power requirements for a 2GIG GC2e?
Measuring panel voltage is a common troubleshooting step when experiencing odd behavior on a panel. Most often, this step is required when there is a Modem-Panel Comm message, or the panel is not communicating properly with Alarm.com. For more information about measuring the voltage, see Measure panel and module voltage.
Power requirements
The following table displays where to test voltage and what the recommended voltage is for the 2GIG GC2e:
| Panel power requirements | 14 VDC Note: An AC power loss is issued any time it drops below 11VDC. |
|---|---|
| Where to measure panel voltage | + and - terminals on the main panel board |
| Alarm.com module power requirements | 12-14 VDC Note: The module's voltage for a 2GIG GC2e cannot be measured using a voltmeter. Verify the power to the panel is the required voltage. |
Wire size and maximum length
The following table displays the different wire sizes that can be used with 2GIG panels, and its' correlating maximum length:
| Wire size | Maximum wire length |
|---|---|
| 22 AWG | 55 ft (16.8 m) |
| 20 AWG | 85 ft (25.9 m) |
| 22 AWG 2‐pairs (19 AWG equivalent) | 110 ft (33.5 m) |
| 18 AWG | 135 feet (41.1 m) |
