How do multiple partitions work with the 2GIG EDGE?
Smart Areas is 2GIG's partitioning solution. The 2GIG EDGE supports up to four Smart Areas (partitions). Once Smart Areas are enabled, zones, keyfobs, keypads, and users can be assigned to Smart Areas (partitions) allowing individual control of each area.

Configure Smart Area names
The Smart Area (partition) names can be updated locally using the panel or remotely using the Alarm.com customer website.

To configure Smart Area names using the panel:
- On the home screen, tap
.
- Enter the installer or master code.
- Tap Smart Areas Settings.
Note: This option only displays when Smart Areas is enabled. - Tap
for the Smart Area to configure.
- Enter the desired partition name.
- Tap Save.
Assign users to Smart Areas
System user codes can be assigned to specific Smart Areas (partitions) locally using the panel, or remotely using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.

To assign users to Smart Areas using the panel:
- On the home screen, tap
.
- Enter the installer code or master code.
- Tap Users.
- To edit a user, tap
for the user to edit.
- Scroll to and tap Smart Areas.
- Tap the toggle switch to activate or deactivate a Smart Area to allow a user access to.
- Tap Save.
View status of Smart Areas
Smart Area arming status
The Smart Areas (partitions) screen provides access to controls and status of all Smart Areas from the main panel or EDGE Remote Keypads. The Smart Areas button will change color to indicate the status of the Smart Areas (partitions):
- Tap the Smart Areas button on the Home screen.
- Enter the user code The user code controls access to the Smart Areas. After authentication, the Smart Areas screen displays the Smart Areas the user is assigned.
- The Smart Areas screen will display status for each Smart Area similar to the panel's home screen.
To arm Smart Areas:
- Tap Arm Stay
or Arm Away
buttons for the partition to arm.
To acknowledge or clear an alarm:
- Tap Disarm on the Smart Area that is displaying an alarm.
- Tap Acknowledge to address the alarm and stop any alert sounds or flashing. Or, tap Clear to remove all alarms. If the alarm cannot be cleared, the issue must still be resolved.
Smart Area notifications
The notifications icon will appear in a Smart Area (partition) if troubles or alarms exist.
Status Examples:
- 1: Ready to Arm
- 2: Ready to Arm (BYPASS)
- 3: In Alarm
- 4: Armed Away
- 5: Not Ready to Arm
- 6: Disabled
To view the notification:
- Tap the notification icon.
- Tap the Alert or Message.
Note: This popup only appears if the Alarm and Alert conditions are present at the same time.
- View System Alerts, then tap Acknowledge to address the alert and stop any alert sounds or flashing, or tap Clear to remove all alerts. If the alert cannot be cleared, the alert issue must still be resolved.
