Enroll or delete a Yale Real Living Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD220/YRD226)

Z-Wave locks use encrypted communication over Z-Wave, meaning their communication is completely secure. With this added security, the lock and the controller must use additional Z-Wave commands to learn-in and communicate. With each additional command sent, the probability of a communication breakdown increases.

For information about hardware installation, see Yale Real Living Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD220/YRD226) - Installation guide.

Important: Do not add or delete user codes locally to or from the lock. Only use the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website for user code management.

To mitigate the chances of a learn-in failure for locks, complete the following during installation.

To enroll a Yale Real Living Touchscreen Deadbolt into a Z-Wave network:

As a SmartStart device (700 series only):

It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices).

For information about SmartStart compatibility and the enrollment process, see Add or remove a Z-Wave SmartStart-enabled device.

As an S2 device (700 series only):

If your Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.

For information about this process, see Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave Device.

As an S0 device:

If the lock does not have a 700 series Z-Wave module, or the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.

  1. Begin with the lock within 6 feet of the panel or module.
  2. Place the panel into Add Mode.
  3. Enter the master code, followed by a press of the [⚙ Gear Button].
  4. Press [7], followed by the [⚙ Gear Button].
  5. Press [1], followed by the [⚙ Gear Button].
  6. Wait 2 minutes before locally operating the device.
  7. Verify that the lock shows up on the Alarm.com website and responds to lock/unlock commands.

To delete a Yale Real Living Touchscreen Deadbolt from a Z-Wave network:

  1. Place the panel into Delete Mode.
