The [7] key does not work to enroll a lock

When the [7] key does not sound when trying to enroll the lock, this means that the lock does not recognize that the Z-Wave chip is installed. If this is occurring on the lock, try the following steps until the [7] key works to enroll the lock. 

Before beginning to troubleshoot, verify the following: 

  • Verify a Z-Wave chip is present in the lock.
  • Verify the correct  Z-Wave chip is present in the lock.
    • The 300-Series lock has a Z-Wave chip that is a slightly frosted green that can be seen through.
    • The 500-Series lock has an opaque green Z-Wave chip.

Troubleshooting steps

Attempt to enroll the Z-Wave lock after performing each of the following troubleshooting steps.

Reseat the Z-Wave chip
  1. Power down the lock by removing the batteries. 
  2. Reseat the Z-Wave chip above the batteries in the lock.
  3. Place the batteries back into the lock. 
  4. Attempt to enroll the Z-Wave lock. 
Factory reset the lock
  1. If the lock is still not enrolling after reseating the Z-Wave chip, perform a factory reset on the lock.

  2. Attempt to enroll the Z-Wave lock. 
Replace the Z-Wave chip
  1. If the [7] key continues to not work after trying the preceding steps, replace the Z-Wave chip in the lock. 
  2. Once the Z-Wave chip is replaced, factory reset the lock. 
  3. Attempt to enroll the Z-Wave lock. 
Replace the lock

If all preceding steps do not resolve the [7] key to be recognized for enrollment, replace the Z-Wave lock.
