Enroll, delete, or reset an Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave® Deadbolt

Z-Wave locks use encrypted communication over Z-Wave, meaning their communication is completely secure. With this added security, the lock and the controller must use additional Z-Wave commands to enroll and communicate. With each additional command sent, the probability of a communication breakdown increases.

For information about hardware installation, see Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave® Deadbolt - Installation Guide

To mitigate the chances of enrollment failure for locks, complete the following during installation.

To enroll an Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave Deadbolt:

As a SmartStart device:

It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices).

For information about SmartStart compatibility and the enrollment process, see Add or remove a Z-Wave SmartStart-enabled device.

As an S2 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.

For information about this process, see Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave device.

As an S0 device:

If your Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Add Mode.
  2. Press and hold the ULTRALOQ button for 3 seconds.
  3. You will hear two beeps, see a flashing blue light, and the internal LED will flash green. The lock is now in setup mode (add mode).

To delete an Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave® Deadbolt:

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Delete Mode.
  2. Press and hold the ULTRALOQ button for 3 seconds.
  3. You will hear two beeps, see a flashing blue light, and the internal LED will flash green. The lock is now in exclusion mode.

To reset an Ultraloq Bolt Z-Wave® Deadbolt:

  • Use a Reset Needle to press the Reset button under the battery cover for 10 seconds, until you hear 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps.
