The Schlage Encode Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt (BE489) requires four high-quality alkaline AA batteries.
To replace the batteries in a Schlage Encode Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt (BE489):
Pull out the battery holder.
Install the batteries.
Reinstall the battery holder. Turn the battery holder around so the batteries face the door.
