Should user codes be saved locally on a lock?

No. User codes can technically be saved locally or remotely on all Z-Wave enabled locks, but Alarm.com does not support locally programmed codes. It is recommended that Alarm.com users save their user codes using the Alarm.com customer website on the Users page .

The amount of user codes that can be saved on some locks is different when saving them locally or remotely. Remotely saved codes are stored on the Z-Wave chip which expands the amount that the base lock is able to support.
