Deadbolt lock is jammed or not properly extending

A jammed deadbolt can be a sign of improper installation and can lead to reduced battery life or inconsistent performance.

If a deadbolt is jammed or not properly extending:

  1. Verify the door is shut tightly, then attempt to lock/unlock the door again.
  2. Verify the door frame slot for the deadbolt is large enough to accommodate the deadbolt.
  3. Verify the lock is oriented correctly (i.e., its handing is correct). Re-handing the lock may include factory resetting the lock, which requires re-enrolling the lock into the panel's Z-Wave network.
    • For more information about re-handing or resetting the lock, see Locks for the lock's installation guide.
  4. Disassemble and reassemble the lock.
  5. If the behavior persists, contact the lock's manufacturer.
