Use a DC power adapter for the Image Sensor
The Image Sensor can be powered using a 5V DC adapter (not sold by Alarm.com).
Important: This is only available for the Image Sensors version 1 and 2 models. Image Sensor version 3 does not have the option to use DC power.
To connect the power supply:
- Insert a wire into the terminals on the back of the Image Sensor. The positive terminal is on the far right and the negative terminal is to the left of the positive terminal when looking at the sensor from the back. The wire slips into the hole. When you push the wire in, it attaches.
Note: The A and B terminals would be for hardwiring the image sensor directly to the panel, but this is not recommended.
- Power up the DC adapter.
- Insert batteries into the Image Sensor. Batteries should be used for backup in case the power goes out. If the power supply failed, the Image Sensor defaults to battery power.
To remove the power wires, insert a small tool into the rectangular piece below the Image Sensor terminals. This setup is similar to inserting the ISHW on the Image Sensor daughterboard.
