How do Image Sensors communicate?
The Image Sensor uses radio frequency to communicate and transmit the data to the panel. Internet or Wi-Fi is not required for the Image Sensor to communicate with the panel.
Just like a traditional PIR motion sensor, the Image Sensor is enrolled in a sensor group or type, and it triggers an alarm at the appropriate time for that group.
The following graphic explains the communication path for the Image Sensor:

Alarm reporting
To the control panel
When the Image Sensor triggers an alarm, the device ID that the Image Sensor is enrolled in is reported to the control panel. This applies to all panels except the following:
- Interlogix Simon XT - Instead, the alarm hardwire IS HW enrolled in device ID 39 is reported.
- Interlogix Concord - Instead, the alarm hardwire that was manually enrolled is reported.
To Alarm.com and the monitoring station
For all panels, the device ID that the individual Image Sensor is enrolled in is reported to Alarm.com, the monitoring station, and customer notifications.
