Can the LAN address or LAN settings be changed for the LiftMaster MyQ Internet Gateway (828LM)?

No. All local area network (LAN) and internet connection settings of the Internet Gateway are factory-set and cannot be changed. There is no need to change any of the Internet Gateway's internal settings.

The LAN address (e.g., 192.168.0.2) of the Internet Gateway is assigned by the router (if DHCP is enabled) and does not need user involvement. The LAN address cannot be manually changed; however, typically resetting the MyQ gateway causes the gateway to request a new IP address from the router. If a LAN address conflict is suspected, perform a soft reset on the MyQ Internet Gateway to force the MyQ gateway to obtain a new LAN address from the router.

To perform a soft reset on the MyQ Internet Gateway:

  1. Use a thin tool (e.g., paper clip or a toothpick) to press and hold the MyQ gateway's reset button until the yellow LED blinks, then release the button.
  2. The MyQ Internet Gateway's green and blue LEDs blink to indicate a renewed LAN address.
  3. Once solid green, the Internet Gateway is fully reconnected to the internet.
