Genie and Overhead Door - Integration Guide
Customers can add Wi-Fi Genie and Overhead Door garage door openers to their Alarm.com systems and take full advantage of our smart automation and remote control features.
Requirements
- Compatible mobile versions:
- iOS device with firmware version 8.0+
- Android device with firmware version 2.1+
- Alarm.com mobile app version 4.10.4+
- Current versions of the Aladdin Connect or OHD Anywhere mobile apps
Note: These apps are only required if integrating pre-installed hardware. - At least one Wi-Fi-enabled Genie or Overhead Door garage device

Install the garage device
To install the Retrofit Kit:
- Follow the steps described in Access the installation wizard.
- Read through the instructions on the Get Started! page of the wizard, then click Next.
Important: Before proceeding, install the hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions, skipping over any steps that ask you to download an app, create an account, add the device to an account, or set up Wi-Fi on the device. - On the Device Model page, click Retrofit-Kit.
- Pair the Door Position Sensor according to the instructions presented.
- Verify the control module is connected to power.
- Press and hold one of the three buttons on the door control module that you want to pair until the device beeps. After the beep, the light above the button will begin to flash.
- Pull the tab on the door position sensor, or press the button on the sensor if the tab has already been removed. The sensor LED will begin to flash.
- Once paired with the door control module, the door position sensor LED will stop flashing.
- Click Next.
- Enter a name for the device and its serial number.
- Click Next.
- When asked if the device is connected to Wi-Fi, click No if it is not.
Note: If the device is connected to Wi-Fi, click Yes. The wizard will proceed to the final step. - When asked how you would like to connect the device to Wi-Fi, click Wireless Access Point (AP).
- Set up Wi-Fi on the device according to the instructions presented.
- Locate the Wi-Fi button on the device.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the unit beeps and the LED changes color.
- Connect your smartphone/tablet to the gdocntl Wi-Fi network.
- Open http://192.168.1.1 in your web browser and follow the on screen instructions to connect the device to a network.
- Return to this wizard once complete and click Next.
- Verify the device is online.
- Open and close the garage door twice from the wall button or car remote.
- Verify that the device's Wi-Fi signal indicator LED is solid green.
Note: If the device reports a malfunction status after completing this wizard, the device may be offline. Return to this wizard and re-enter the device's serial number when prompted. Complete the Wi-Fi setup steps again, selecting No when asked if the device is connected to Wi-Fi. Clear out any saved Wi-Fi configurations and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
- Click Next to finish the wizard or Try Again to re-attempt the installation.
To install the Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener:
- Follow the steps described in Access the installation wizard.
- Read through the instructions on the Get Started! page of the wizard, then click Next.

- Enter a name for the device and its iDCM serial number.

- Click Next.
- When asked if the device is connected to Wi-Fi, click No if it is not.
Note: If the device is connected to Wi-Fi, click Yes. The wizard will proceed to the final step. - When asked how you would like to connect the device to Wi-Fi, click Wireless Access Point (AP).
- Set up Wi-Fi on the device according to the instructions presented.
- Locate the Wi-Fi button on the device.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the unit beeps and the LED changes color.
- Connect your smartphone/tablet to the gdocntl Wi-Fi network.
- Open http://192.168.1.1 in your web browser and follow the on screen instructions to connect the device to a network.
- Return to this wizard once complete and click Next.
- Verify the device is online.
- Open and close the garage door twice from the wall button or car remote.

Integrate pre-installed Genie and Overhead Door garage devices with Alarm.com
Add the Genie or Overhead Door garage device using the Add Device Portal
To add the Genie or Overhead Door garage device using the Alarm.com customer website:
- Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click Settings.
- Click Manage Devices.
- Click Add Device.
- Click Garage Door.

- Click Genie Aladdin Connect or Overhead Door OHD Anywhere.

- Click Next.
- Enter the email address and password associated with the Aladdin Connect or OHD Anywhere account, then click Sign In.
- Click Authorize.
- It may take several minutes before the device appears on the account.
To add the Genie or Overhead Door garage device using the Alarm.com app:
- Log in to the Alarm.com app.
- Tap

- Tap Add Device.
- Tap Garage Door.
