Enroll, delete, or reset an Aeotec Home Energy Meter 8 (ZWA046)

The Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046) can be enrolled in or deleted from a Z-Wave network following the instructions in this guide.

For more information about installing an Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046), see Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046) - Installation Guide.

To enroll an Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046):

As a SmartStart device:

It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices).

For information about SmartStart compatibility and the enrollment process, see Add or remove a Z-Wave SmartStart-enabled device.

As an S2 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.

For information about this process, see Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave device.

As an S0 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Add Mode.
  2. Press the Action button once. The LED will flash blue rapidly while in pairing mode.
  3. After successfully joining the network, the LED will flash blue for several seconds before turning solid blue.

To delete an Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046):

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Delete Mode.
  2. Press the Action button once. The LED will flash blue rapidly while in remove mode.
  3. The LED will flash blue when it is successfully removed from the network.

To reset an Aeotec Home Energy Meter GEN8 (ZWA046):

This method is not fully advised unless your gateway has failed, if paired to your network, performing these steps will factory reset your Home Energy Meter 8. If it is paired to a hub, performing this step will lead to automatically removing itself from the network most of the time, this action may be missed at times leaving a phantom device.

  1. Verify the device has power.
  2. Press and hold the Action button for at least 10 seconds.
  3. If the reset was successful, the LED will flash slowly to indicate it was factory reset.
