Can a close command be sent to Alarm.com Flex IO sensors connected to a gate controller?
No. The Alarm.com Flex IO® sensor only supports remote open commands paired with gate controllers in the auto-close configuration. This is by design for regulatory & safety precautions.
While powered gate controllers do support toggle configurations for separate open/close/stop commands, these are initiated locally by traditional RF remotes when the gate controller is in sight. Gate commands over cellular are considered ‘Remote Management’ (UL 325) and, therefore, require combined audible and lighted warnings for a prescribed period of time prior to closing actuation of a powered gate. The FLEX-100 contains a single relay output which is incompatible with the combined independent relay/switching needs of controller input and safety equipment required for remote close commands.
