When should the Two Reader Expansion Module (ADC-ACX2) be set to use PASS or 12V for the reader power?

When determining which position the reader power selection jumper (J2) should be in, the selection should be based on the controller's input power.

Caution: Take additional time to review the reader's input voltage requirements, as attempting to provide a reader or keypad too high of a voltage may result in damage to the device.

Installation scenarios:

If 24 VDC is applied to a board with pass-through (PT) selected:

24 VDC will be passed through to reader ports.

Caution: Take caution when powering the controller with 24V and selecting pass-though, as many of the readers on the market do not support input voltages outside of 5-16V.

If 24 VDC is applied to a board with 12V selected:

12 VDC will be supplied to the reader ports.

If 12 VDC is applied to a board with pass-through (PT) selected:

12 VDC will be passed through to reader ports.

If 12 VDC is applied to a board with 12V selected:

0 VDC will be supplied to the reader ports.

Note: While this scenario may have allowed voltage to be supplied to the reader ports on older versions of the boards, this configuration is not recommended.
