Can Access Control automation rules be configured to only work with specific users?

All Access Control users can be assigned to one of the default User Groups or a custom-made User Group, making it more efficient to assign privileges and access levels in bulk. The account administrator determines who belongs in each Access Group. 

The user groups can be used to specify a subset of users who are able to trigger rules, such as Double Swipe to Lock or Unlock or First Person In.

To assign an Access Control user to a User Group:

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click User Access.
  3. Click Users.
  4. Click More next to the desired user, then click icn-edit.svg.
  5. In User Group, click Details.
  6. Select the desired Access Control User Group, then click Save.
     
    Note: Additional User Groups can be created using the User Groups Management page, for more information, see To create, edit, or delete an Access Control User Group.
     
  7. Once the User Group attribute has been added to the user, automation rules can be designated to work with the selected User Group.
  8. Currently, User Groups can be configured to work with the following rules:

To create, edit, or delete an Access Control User Group:

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click User Access.
  3. Click Users.
  4. Click to expand More.
  5. Click User Groups Management.
  6. Create, edit, or delete a User Group.
     
    Note: User Groups cannot be edited while a controller on the account is offline.
     
    • To create a new User Group:
      1. Click Add User Group.
      2. In the Group Name field, enter the desired name for the new User Group.
      3. Click Save.
      4. Once a User Group has been created, the attribute can be added to any user, and automation rules can be designated to work with anyone, Managers, or any custom-created User Group.
    • To edit an existing User Group:
      1.  Click More next to the desired User Group, then click  Edit.
      2. In the Group Name field, enter the desired name for the new User Group.
      3. Click Save.
    • To delete an existing User Group:
      1. Click More next to the desired User group, then click Delete.
      2. Click Delete.
