Is there a cellular communication option for the Access Control controllers?
Yes. The Alarm.com Cell Connector (ADC-NK-200T-A-CC) provides a cellular communication option for Access Control controllers. For more information, see Alarm.com Cell Connector (ADC-NK-200T-A-CC) for Access Control.
Alternatively, cellular modems can allow Access Control controllers to communicate using cellular communication.
To connect using a cellular modem:
Note: It is recommended to use the Alarm.com Cell Connector (ADC-NK-200T-A-CC) for cellular connection.
- Connect the Access Control door controller to a cellular modem. Cradlepoint brand cellular routers are the recommended option for cellular communication.
Note: Cradlepoint devices are often available from distribution outlets and require a cellular SIM card to be installed. If there is an unlimited cellular plan available to the customer, it is recommended to use that for their account in order to avoid excessive data charges. - Connect the Access Control door controller to the cellular modem by connecting an Ethernet cable from the cellular router to the Alarm.com controller.
- After installing the cellular router, verify that the Access Control system is functioning properly.
For installation instructions and support, refer to the cellular modem’s manufacturer as Alarm.com will not provide support for Cradlepoint or any other cellular modems.
