Enable or disable remote commands for lights or switches

Remote commands for lights and switches are automatically enabled when enrolled, but can be disabled.

When enabled, the device can be controlled through automations and from the Lights and Switches card.
When disabled:
- The device cannot be controlled from the Lights and Switches card and can only be physically turned on/off. The device's status still displays on the Lights and Switches card.
- The device is removed from all existing rules, schedules, and scenes and does not appear when trying to set up a new automation.
  - If the automation only includes the disabled device, the automation will be deleted when the setting is disabled.
    Important: When remote commands are re-enabled, the device becomes available for new automations, but it is not automatically re-added to previous automations and must be manually re-added to any automations that it should be used in.

Compatibility requirements

This feature is only available for Lights and Switches. This does not include Wi-Fi lights/switches or Alarm.com video camera lights (i.e., ADC-V729).

If you do not see the option to enable or disable remote commands, contact your service provider.

Enable or disable remote commands for lights/switches

Remote commands for lights and switches can be disabled or re-enabled using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.

To enable/disable remote commands using the Alarm.com app:

Log in to the Alarm.com app.
Tap .
Tap Manage Devices.
In Lights and Switches, tap for the desired device to manage.
Tap Device Settings.
In Settings, tap Remote Commands Enabled to toggle on or off.
Tap Save.

To enable/disable remote commands using the Alarm.com customer website:

Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
Click Settings.
Click Manage Devices.
In Lights and Switches, click for the desired device to manage.
Click Device Settings.
In Settings, click Remote Commands Enabled to toggle on or off.
Click Save.
