Secure your Alarm.com account and connected home
Your Alarm.com account helps you manage your security system, cameras, locks, garage door, alerts, and smart home settings. That makes it one of the most important parts of your connected home security.
A few simple habits can go a long way with securing your Alarm.com account and connected home.
Start with your account
Use a strong and unique password
Choose a password that is hard to guess and not used anywhere else. Reusing passwords across multiple sites can put your account at greater risk.
Turn on Two Factor Authentication if available
Two Factor Authentication is an optional security feature that adds an extra step when logging in. After entering your username and password, you will also need to enter a verification code sent by text message, email, or generated by an authenticator app.
This added layer can help protect your account, even if someone gets your password.
Note: It is recommended to create separate logins for additional users. Two Factor Authentication ties a username to a specific phone number or email address, so shared logins can create unnecessary complications.
Enable Two Factor Authentication
Two Factor Authentication can be enabled or disabled using the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website.
Note: If Two Factor Authentication is enabled, all active sessions on the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website will end. You will need to log back in using Two Factor Authentication.
